Our Vision
Happy children, who are eager to come to school is the gateway to vision at Ysgol Penllwyn and Ysgol Penrhyn-coch. We strongly believe that happy learners are successful learners. While pupils are in our care, our aim is to support our learners to become:
· ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives
· enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work
· ethical, informed Welsh citizens, who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world
· healthy, confident individuals who are ready to live life realizing their aspirations as valued members of society.
These are based on the 4 Purposes of 'Curriculum for Wales' 2022. It was decided as a governing body to adopt these as the basis to the school’s mission statement so that they are the ultimate goal for our practice and form the basis for learning and teaching.
Our hope is that:
- Every pupil develops curiosity, ambition, and enthusiasm for their learning.
- Every pupil develops and transfers core skills to the best of their ability.
- Every pupil develops personal effectiveness, enabling them to work independently, collaborate with others, and adapt to challenges.
- Leaders and teachers consistently set high expectations for every pupil, enabling them to reach their full potential.
- Leaders, teachers, and the wider community collaborate to provide a varied and appealing curriculum for all learners, offering experiences that involve problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
- The school, its pupils, and their families respect each other and work together with empathy for everyone’s well-being.

‘Together, we can succeed’
As one governing body, and one team of staff, we aim to ensure our partnership benefits our learners.
The partnership enriches learners’ experiences and education in both schools by:
- Providing opportunities for pupils to develop a wider circle of friends before moving on to secondary school.
- Innovating in the use of technology as a medium for communication and collaboration across both sites.
- Joint opportunities to express opinions and make decisions about how the school operates (e.g., school councils).
- Sharing pupils’ expertise and talents while developing leadership and collaboration skills (e.g., sports teams, performance opportunities, and joint projects).
- Sharing staff expertise in co-planning learning experiences and sharing resources.
- Sharing best practice and comparing standards among pupils and staff.
- Regular opportunities to socialize in Welsh and experience different environments (e.g., joint Urdd club, CRhA events).
- Joint school councils.
