Relationships and Self-Regulation
Our New Approach to Behaviour and Wellbeing
At our school, we have introduced a new Relationships and Self‑Regulation Policy, replacing our previous Behaviour and Discipline Policy. This reflects our commitment to a whole‑county initiative focused on strengthening relational practice in schools.
Our approach places relationships at the heart of everything we do. We believe that children thrive when they feel safe, valued, and understood. By building strong, respectful connections between staff and pupils, we create a positive and supportive learning environment for all.
The policy also supports pupils in developing self‑regulation skills, helping them to recognise, understand, and manage their emotions and behaviour. Rather than relying on traditional sanctions, we focus on guiding pupils to reflect, repair relationships, and make positive choices.
Through this approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient learners who are ready to succeed both in school and beyond.
